We are a Southern Baptist Church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and Kentucky Baptist Convention. We affirm and are committed to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
At Hart Baptist, we believe "The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation."
There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with distinct personal attributes but one and the same. Known as the Holy Trinity.
God the Father:
God the Father reigns over all of His creation, His universe, His creatures, and His people. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving and wise. He is the First and Last, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.
God the son:
Jesus is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully Man. He is the second Person of the Holy Trinity. Jesus came to earth, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross for our sins. Three days later He rose again and ascended into heaven. Jesus offers salvation to all who place their trust in Him. He is our Savior, Lord, and the only way to the Father.
God the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity- fully God, eternal, and equal with the Father and Son. He lives within every believer, guides us in truth, convicts us of sin, strengthens our faith, and empowers us to live and serve according to God's will. The Holy Spirit works through us to make us more like Christ equips us to be witnesses for the Gospel.
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was given free will from His creator. By man's free will he sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Because of sin every person is separated from God and unable to save themselves through good works. God offers us grace and mercy and will forgive us of our sins when we accept him as our personal Savior. Every person has eternal value and is called to know God, love Him, and live according to His will.
Salvation in Christ is the belief that through Jesus' death and resurrection, we can be forgiven of our sins and have eternal life with God. It is the acceptance of Jesus as our savior and the commitment to follow his teachings. This salvation is a gift from God, not something we can earn on our own, and it brings hope, peace, and purpose to our lives.
Believers Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. I represents the burial of the old life and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life. Baptism is a church ordinance and the prerequisite of membership of the local church.
